After the winter we’ve all had spring seems to finally be headed our way! And if you’re like me you can’t wait to pack up those heavy dark fabrics and accessories and roll out the softer spring and summer home décor. Here are inexpensive and easy decorating tips to help get you started.

  • Replace winter drapes with breezy gauzy sheers. For added privacy pair with bamboo shades. And while those windows are uncovered, take a few extra minutes and give them a good cleaning. Nothing shouts spring more than bright sunlight streaming through sparkling streak-free windows.
  • Exchange decorative accessories with new ones in light summery patterns, colors and designs. Throw pillows, tablescapes, casual rugs and lampshades are all quick and inexpensive ways to brighten up your home décor.
  • Unless you have plenty of extra storage space (and money) you certainly aren’t going to replace your upholstered furniture at the beginning of each season. But with a small initial layout of cash, you can easily cover them with slipcovers. This gives the room a new look and feel with very little hassle and expense.
  • Paint something. No, you don’t have to completely redo an entire room simply because it’s spring. But touching up the moulding and around the door and window frames makes a room feel fresh and clean. Then take a look outside. There is probably a good chance the outside trim needs a fresh coat of paint. Also, why not repaint the front door while you’re at it? Think outside the box and go bold with the new shade.
